The company has handed over 200 bottles of water and 200 packs of biscuits for the SOS Pilgrim grab bags for frontline NHS staff.

The appeal was launched last week with a £1,000 target to fund the care bags, with half the money raised set to go to Boston Foodbank.

Alison Marriot of SOS Pilgrim said: “A very heartfelt thank you goes to Charles and Tamsin from Pilgrim Food Services for their kindness and support for our NHS. This has blown us away.”

The GoFundMe appeal is one of huge number set up in the Boston area to help support NHS carers during the coronavirus pandemic.

It’s current total stands at £414, and Alison is hopeful of reaching the £1,000 target by the end of next week.

She said: “We have also had many kind donations from friends, family and supporters to our GoFundMe for the SoS care bags, which goes towards the toiletries (kindly provided at no commission by Jackie Hudson-Hay of jackiesbeautybox.co.uk), lip balms and sweets.

“We are very grateful to everyone, each donation is valuable, from £5 to £100. Or simply sharing our GoFundMe link so others can donate - it all helps.

“We are aiming to deliver 200 care bags to the Pilgrim Hospital by the end of the week. We would like to reach the full £1,000 at the end of next week, and when the appeal is finished, to donate half of the total raised to the Boston Foodbank.”

She said of the response shown by the community through the many appeals was “beautiful, wonderful and amazing teamwork. Boston at its finest!

“And it’s the least we can do for those risking their lives for us. I just hope when this is thankfully all over, the good things will remain and that we will never forget the keyworkers again, and that our Government and society as a whole would continue to recognise them and value them properly.”
