Hundreds of Easter eggs have been delivered to children in lockdown across the coast - thanks to a local food bank.

A team of 10 wearing fancy dress and Personel Protective Equipment (PPE), including the Easter Bunny, travelled around estates in Skegness, Chapel St Leonards, Hogsthorpe, Ingoldmells and Winthorpe on Sunday.

Spurred on by children waving to them from their gardens or windows, in seven hours they delivered 1,000 eggs and sweets donated to Ingoldmells Food Bank by local businesses and supermarkets.

"I can't thank the businesses enough for their support so we could do this," said Rob Stevens, whose food bank in Ingoldmells has been based at his Manhattan Showbar in Sea Lane since it closed for the lockdown.

"The food bank has been supporting 450 families from the area a week, with 12 more getting in touch since we were out on Easter Sunday.

"We decided to deliver the eggs because we had so many donated and it was the only way we could get them to the children who would benefit from them.

"Our volunteers were all registered to us and CRB checked.

"To respect social distancing we asked families to stay inside of their gardens and overall it worked well. The police were even waving to us in Chapel St Leonards."

As well as running the food bank, which has been open for more than 12 hours every day since the lockdown began, Mr Stevens is the wellbeing co-ordinator for East Lindsey, offering a shopping and prescription service as well as calling anyone who is lonely or vulnerable.

An entertainer, he has also been broadcasting Live on Facebook.

"I have been in Skegness two and a half years - the town has been good to me since I had a double brain haemorrhage and a stroke and lost everything and people gave me money and helped me get back on my feet.

"Afterwards I vowed I would do all I could to help others and this is my second project."
