The trust has already confirmed that staff car parking will be free from Wednesday, April 1, until at least Friday, July 31.

A spokesperson said: “Until further notice, anyone visiting Lincoln, Boston or Grantham hospitals will be able to park in any of the car parks free of charge.

“This means that both visitors and staff can use any designated parking space on the sites.”

Disabled parking bays will still be reserved for blue badge holders who should display their permit as usual.

All other spaces will be free for everyone to use, but the trust asks that motorists continue to park considerately and within designated parking bays.

To help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, usual visiting arrangements have been suspended on nearly all wards at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, Lincoln County Hospital and Grantham and District Hospital.

The only exceptions are for the maternity department, which will allow one birthing partner to attend, and parents who do not show the symptoms of infection are permitted to visit their children.

Any other visiting requests will be granted on compassionate grounds, agreed in advance with the nurse in charge of the ward.

If approved, the majority of these visits will be taking place between 6pm and 7pm. No visitors under 16 will be allowed.

The site at County Hospital Louth is not included in these changes at this time.
