An Aldi spokesperson has told The Standard: “Sixteen colleagues at our Sleaford store are currently self-isolating as per the government guidelines.

“The store has been deep cleaned and we have measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety including additional cleaning in high traffic areas, perspex screens at checkouts and sanitisation stations for customers.”

The announcement comes after a concerned member of the public contacted The Standard having heard about several staff members testing positive in the last few days. She said: “I just feel people need to know, with cases going up across the country - they may need to take extra precautions.”

The store continues to trade as normal and an Aldi spokesperson added that the supermarket has a range of measures in place to protect colleagues and customers at the moment, in addition to those mentioned, including having automated traffic lights to manage the number of people in store at any one time, increased contactless spending limits and signs around store reminding about social distancing.
