Spilsby Town Council in conjunction with various other community groups - including, Spilsby Good Neighbour Scheme, Spilsby New Life Centre, Spilsby Christian Fellowship and individual Spilsby residents - created the team to reach out to the many vulnerable people who are unable to leave their homes.

They are carrying out essential tasks such as shopping for food and collecting prescriptions or just calling individuals by telephone to chat and make sure they are well.

Spilsby Mayor Councillor Terry Taylor said “Since the Emergency Team was created, volunteers have dealt with dozens of requests for help.

"Each volunteer is vetted using the Lincolnshire County Council emergency guidelines and tasks are distributed to them primarily via the town councils office. New Life and Christian Fellowship food banks are a vital resource for people who are experiencing financial difficulties and hopefully, they will continue to be restocked from various sources wishing to help.

"I want to extend my thanks along with those of my fellow town councillors, to every single person involved in this emergency scheme, for their dedication and hard work in helping the many residents finding themselves in need at this time.

"It shows what a great place Spilsby is to live and how lucky residents are to have so many people willing to help in times of need. It is hoped the scheme can continue throughout the governments emergency measures”

Anyone who feels the need to contact the emergency team should call Spilsby Town Council on (01790) 753189 on weekdays. It is very busy, so if you can't get through leave a message.
