Owners James and Edward Mellors announced the news today, saying the decision was made with a ' heavy heart' and they fully expected to be closed throughout Easter..

A statement reads: "We will of course keep everyone updated via our social channels and announce our reopening date as soon as we are able to. Our Market, Caravan’s sites and Holiday accommodation will remain open as long as it is safe and advisable to do so.

"We have taken this difficult decision as a precautionary measure in line with government efforts to reduce the strain on our emergency services and to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19.

"We feel the burden that this decision will have on all of our employees, market traders, caravan tenants and the wider community, but we believe by us all, businesses and individuals, making these tough decisions, we can get through this together.

"We look forward to welcoming you back and pledge that we will do our best to keep delivering fun experiences and happy memories in the near future."

* Anyone who has purchased a ticket for rides and attractions can redeem them throughout the season.

Tickets can be upgraded from yellow to green, purple or pink if required.

Guests who have booked Fantasy Island Holiday accommodation are advised to rearrange their visit or request a refund.
