Tanglewood Care Services is taking part in an 18-month project, supported by The Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation Trust and Lincolnshire ENRICH.

The project is funded by the Alzheimer’s Society and the Dunhill Medical Trust and will look at the difficulties people face when they move into a care home and aims to improve the experience.

The research will include residents, relatives and staff to obtain a holistic view and to find out what is important to everyone involved when someone moves into a care home.

The research is currently in the process of ethical review.

During this period Lincoln University Research Fellow Rebecca Turner plans to spend time at Cedar falls Care Home in Spalding reviewing previous research in the field and getting to know everyone.

“Tanglewood Care Services is always happy to get involved with innovative ideas. We strive to work with universities and other stakeholders to improve the quality of care for our residents”, said Nike Ajewole, managing director.

“We are very happy to be involved in this important research”," said Anita Malkevica, Registered Manager, Cedar Falls Care Home. "Moving into a care home is a huge decision for people and we are always looking at ways to support the individual and their families through the process. Cedar Falls has been involved in several research projects and each one has benefited our residents and ourselves as care providers.

“What I personally find exciting about this project is the emphasis on participation. Our aim is to work together with those living, working and visiting the care homes, so that our research has direct relevance to the Tanglewood group.

"So far, we have received a very warm welcome from Cedar Falls and the other homes we have visited hope that people feel as equally as welcome to get involved in the research as the study progresses," said Rebecca Turner Research, Fellow College of Social Science, School of Health and Social Care.
