Staff came to work sporting bandana head scarves for a donation to raise funds for the good cause and held a cake sale outside their Handley Street premises after it was suggested by staff member Loretta Aelberry.

She had previously held an ‘80s night for St Barnabas Hospice and then heard about the Brain Tumour Charity.

She said: “It is one of the most underfunded and overlooked charities and so I mentioned it to my manager whose father-in-law died from a brain tumour.”

Bosses were keen to get involved. The business also has an employee who has recovered from a brain tumour and so it was a cause that inspired the staff to want to help.

Staff all made cakes which they sold all day in the rain, selling the last ones off down the street at the end of the day, which were snapped up by passing school children when they learned it was for a good cause.
