Spread across both fields at the Boston Road Recreation Ground, the show has grown in both size and reputation to be one of the best shows in the area and a cracking family day out, said chairman Alan Aistrup.
With over 250 vehicles on display, plus trade and catering stands, plus musical entertainment, the weather was in their favour too on Saturday, September 5.
Alan said: “We had a tremendous turn out of visitors throughout the day and ‘the rec’ was alive with people and families of all ages just having a fun day out. There was a real buzz around the event.”
New for this year, visitors were entertained by Sleaford Rock Choir with their upbeat tones and enthusiasm.
And to put the icing on the cake, towards the end of the afternoon, there was a fantastic display by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s Hurricane aircraft.
Alan said feedback was almost 100 per cent positive, citing how friendly the atmosphere was and how good it was to have such an event in the middle of town that was easily accessible for all.
The show is still run by a small group of volunteers on a not-for-profit basis, supporting local charities and good causes.
Alan warned: “The show can only survive and continue to prosper if we have sufficient show day volunteers to help with tasks such as the setting up of the site, parking show vehicles and general house keeping, etc. throughout the day.”
