Through meticulous research, the new book - which is fully illustrated and 366 pages long - describes the great changes that occurred in these years, while also bringing to life a world that we have lost.

Dr Gurnham, who formerly taught History at KEVIGS, explained: “It tells the stories of many local families, rich and poor and the not-so-poor, describing their houses and occupations, their entertainment and their schools, their inns, taverns and ale houses, and their treatment of the destitute and those who fell foul of the law.”

The book is now available for just £19.99 from the author by calling 01507 609622 or sending an email to [email protected]. The book’s RRP will be £24.99.
