Volunteer recruitment day at Gunby estate, hall and gardens

A National Trust property is set to host a volunteer recruitment day in June for anyone interesting in telling the story of Gunby Hall, its estate and gardens.

Nestled beneath the rolling Lincolnshire Wolds, the Gunby estate is a place where history, nature and community come together.

With over 300 years of stories from the Massingberd family and a Victorian walled garden that bursts into colour each season, Gunby is a much loved National Trust treasure, and visitors are now invited to become part of

its future.

The heritage attraction will be hosting a Volunteer Recruitment Day on Friday June 5, from 10am to 12 noon, and anyone interested in helping to tell Gunby’s story is encouraged to attend.

Whether individuals are looking to meet new friends, spend more time outdoors, or help preserve a special corner of Lincolnshire for generations to come, volunteering at Gunby could be a perfect fit.

Visitors should arrive between 10am and 10.30am and report to the Welcome Team in the car park, who will be ready to greet them. From there, they will be guided to the Orchard Gallery, where they can chat with current volunteers and staff about the wide range of roles available, learn more about the perks of volunteering with the National Trust and enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee while they settle in.

At 11am, attendees will be treated to a special sneak peek tour of the house, bookshop and gardens. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore Gunby’s rich history, discover hidden corners of the estate, and hear first hand what it is like to be part of the warm and welcoming volunteer team.

No prior experience is required — just enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to get involved. Whether individuals have a few hours a week or more time to spare, there is a place for them at Gunby, says the estate team.

Visitors are encouraged to come along and discover how they could help keep Gunby’s nature, beauty and history alive. For more information, visit: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/gunby-hall
