NOSTALGIA: Appeal made over old photograph of Boston

Can you help Kathryn with the story behind this photograph?

Kathryn found the picture in her parents’ house and asked for help in identifying the date and event.

It seems quite plausible it relates to the May Fair, based on some elements of the photo, but can any of you say for sure or suggest a year?

Kathryn’s great-great-grandfather was John Hudson, Boston Harbour Master, while her great-grandfather was John Henry Hudson, telegraphist and later proprietor of the Cosy Picture House. She wonders if they are in the photo.
