NOSTALGIA: Boston pupils bid fond farewell to lollipop lady in 1980

This was the scene at Boston’s Staniland School 40 years ago when lollipop lady Vera Palmer, of Trafalgar Place, retired after almost 16 years’ service.

The children showed their appreciation by giving her flowers.

“I shall miss them all very much,” she said. “I like children and I loved hearing all the tales they would tell me.”
