NOSTALGIA: Pilgrims get set to return to UK after five-day pre-season tour of Germany

Fifty years ago, Boston United took part in a five-day tour of Germany.

The trip was voted a great success by the players, who were all well-received by football followers in Schwabisch Gmund.

The Pilgrims had two tough pre-season workouts on a ‘lush, rain-soaked’ pitch.

The visit, though, was said to have boosted morale in preparation for the first season match against Kirkby Town.
