NOSTALGIA: West Street, Boston, and the newly opened Regal Centre in 1981 (GALLERY)
Here are a selection of photographs from West Street, in Boston, from 40 years ago.
It included a number of images from inside the newly launched Regal Centre. They appeared in the paper as part of a pre-Christmas feature, which included the limerick: “The West End of Boston has struggled awhile,/But now it would seem it’s regaining its style,/With Christmas now looming,/The West End is booming,/And not before time it’s retrieving its smile’.

The building opened at the end of October of that year after standing empty for a number of years. It was bought for £75,000 in the June of 1981 and underwent a re-fit that cost 'far more' than the original £50,000 estimate. Photo: Midlands
