News that Boston Borough Council will be staging a live music festival in the town’s Central Park this summer may have brought back memories of Party in the Park for some.

Tens of thousands of people attended the annual event each year, even when the council started charging for admission in 2008.

However, in early 2009, amid challenging financial circumstances, the authority chose to suspend the festival, saving £82,000 in that year’s budget.

Here is a selection of the Standard’s photographs from the 2008 celebration.
