TEN YEARS AGO: Celebrations as Alford school rated ‘outstanding’
Celebrations were being held at John Spendluffe Foundation Technology College 10 years ago following the publication of its latest Ofsted report.
The education watchdog had rated the Alford school as ‘outstanding’ – the highest score available to inspectors.
In a letter to pupils, lead inspector Godfrey Bancroft said: “Our findings reflect what many of you told us. The college provides you with an outstanding quality of education. Certainly your teachers and the other staff are doing all they can to provide you with every opportunity to be successful in the future.”
He added: “It was very heartening to hear one student say that if she won the lottery she would use her winnings to build a sixth form, enabling her to stay on at the college.”
