6. Skegness
Veteran performer Kenn Dodd (pictured in 2008) spoke to the Standard 10 years ago after bringing his Happiness Show to Skegness' Embassy Theatre. His performance, which finished in the early hours, left audiences in hysterics, the paper reported. He said: "The British people and British audiences are the greatest in the world and it is a privilege to perform for them, people say that the theatre is dying, it’s not, it will never go away and I hope it keeps going forever and ever."
