Set in 1920s New York, the musical tells the story of Millie Dillmount, who arrives in the city looking for a new life.

“Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men, and a dragon-lady of a villainess that audiences will love to hate, Thoroughly Modern Millie is a perfect evening of madcap entertainment,” the Standard wrote at the time.

The show was based on the Oscar-winning film of the same name directed by George Roy Hill (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting) and starring Julie Andrews, but was refreshed in 2002 with a full score of new songs, and won six prestigious Tony Award including best new musical.

It would be the first time the show had been performed in Skegness.

The cast included local favourites Cameron Hall, Lauren Garrill, Trevor Fenton and Mary Ali, and introduced Jo Fitzwilliams in the leading role of Millie Dillmount.
