Award-winning comedy evening

A NIGHT of award-winning comedy is on the menu at Worksop Library next week for the latest instalment in its monthly Comedy@TheLibrary show.

Three critically acclaimed comedians will take to the stage for a night of merriment and mirth on Wednesday 23rd May.

Headline act Joe Lycett, winner of Chortle Student Comedian of the Year, Bath Comedy Festival New Act of the Year in 2009 and 2010 Chortle Best Newcomer, will preview material from his forthcoming debut Edinburgh Festival show.

Know of his innately hilarious mix of easy charm, vivid anecdotes and razor shop observations, he has numerous TV credits including BBC’s Epic Win, Channel 4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats and E4’s Show and Tell.

Time Out magazine described Joe as man with a ‘huge future’, while Chortle labelled him as ‘an accomplished storyteller’ with a delightful natural style which builds a real connection with the audience.

He will be supported by Scott Bennett, Old Speckled Hen Comedian of the Year 2010 and Comedy Cellar Yorkshire Comedian of the Year 2011, and Richard Jow - the winner of Mr Ben’s Gong Show.

Critics describe Scott as a ‘Yorkshire man with relentless enthusiasm and boundless energy’ while Richard has been praised for his ‘worldly wise and undeniable logic’.

Tickets for the show, compered by Anthony J Brown, are £8, £6 concessions, and can be bought by calling 01909 535353.
