Charity fundraiser to keep centre open

A SPECIAL event has been to help save a Worksop charity this weekend.

Local charity Young Potential, has organised a unique and memorable evening of entertainment in a bid to raise much needed funds to save their Soundwave Centre from closure.

The centre, which is the former Regal Cinema, has been struggling for funds for some time due to the economic downturn and cuts in voluntary sector grants.

Soundwave Centre Development Manager Paul Seaman said: “We are working hard to find new ways to raise the funds we need to keep the centre going so that we can continue our valuable work with disabled and disadvantaged people in Worksop. We hope this series of shows and a range of similar events will help local people to support us”

The show will feature the Sheffield singer Tracy Michelle, who performs her mixture of Motown music and 1950s to present day cabaret music all over the world to glowing reviews.

The show will also feature a talented author, illusionist and mind reader Tristan Stothard who will leave you amazed and slightly confused.

The charity is hoping that local people will get behind their efforts to keep the centre open and believe that with free parking available and the comfortable Arts Bar providing refreshments and a place to relax, the show will prove a wow with local people.

The Final Friday Fundraiser will take place at the Soundwave Centre on Friday 31st August.

Tickets are £5 and are available by calling 01909 474458.
