Digby elves suprise villagers leaving gifts on every doorstep overnight

Residents in Digby awoke this morning (Saturday) to find a little gift bag outside containing a mince pie and a note to say it was from the ‘Digby Elves’.

The village Facebook page soon lit up with heartfelt messages of thanks from touched villagers.

Samantha O’Mahony told The Standard that apparently there a group of villagers split the cooking among themselves and then each distributed the mince pies to certain roads.

She said: “It appears that the Elves visited every single house in Digby.

“This is an amazing act of kindness and none of us have any idea who the elves are.

“Some of the locals have said that after such a challenging year, to have this gesture has really made them emotional.

“The elves have really left a little sparkle at each of the Digby households and we feel extremely lucky to live in such a wonderful and caring community.

“It has put a little bit of magic back into Christmas this year.”

Another resident said: “I’ve just enjoyed my lovely mince pie with a nice cup of tea.

“It just restores your faith in human nature to know that there are people in the world that take the time to make people happy, and by leaving it anonymous, it is clearly done as a selfless act whereby not seeking reciprocation.

“I am just so honoured to be a member of the village where these ‘Elves’ are.

“It’s just wonderful to see that amidst all the turmoil and angst that we are all experiencing this year, that there are people (on my doorstep) who want to spread happiness and cheer.”
