The Government announced funding for councils to help support residents experiencing hardship, who are already in receipt of Council Tax Support and have an outstanding amount of Council Tax to pay. They will have their balance reduced by up to £150. This is equivalent to around 10 per cent or more of the total bill.

The council is working hard to identify those customers who qualify for this. Once this has taken place, Council Tax accounts will be updated and revised bills will be issued.

It may also be worth checking whether you are entitled to any discounts, which can be found listed within the Council Tax leaflet at www.n-kesteven.gov.uk/counciltax

The council says it still needs reliable funding to keep residents safe and healthy and maintain essential services, so it cannot simply waive the Council Tax.

If you are unable to pay your tax, make a claim for means-tested Council Tax Support or you can delay payments by two months.
