Based on real events hidden for nearly a century, Arletty Theatre’s production takes you back to 1918, with songs from the era, comedy and physical theatre.

It is June 1918, and Polly Barton is starting work as a canary girl’ in Shell-filling Factory Number 6.

Her fiancé is at away fighting in the trenches and the hours are long – but the pay is excellent.

The workers settle in to a pattern of 12-hour shifts punctuated by songs and sporting events to raise morale.

They discover a new independence and self-reliance – until the terrible day the war comes to Chilwell.

The performance is on Thursday, November 3 at 7.30pm and tickets are £12, £10 and £8 on 01522 873894 or www.lincolndrillhall.com
