Everton Players to return

Theatre goers of all ages are sure of an evening of fun and laughs as the Everton Village Players present their October production of ‘Curtain Up!’ by Peter Quilter.

Everton Village Hall will be transformed into a theatre within a theatre for the set of this fast paced comedy about five women who inherit equal shares in a dilapidated theatre and their plans to bring it back to life.

The intrepid quintet try various fund-raising schemes but their most ambitious is to hold a concert featuring a world-famous star, who agrees to appear for no fee.

The audience will see the ‘theatre’ morph from a total wreck into a glittering performance venue, where an expectant sell out audience is waiting impatiently for the star act.

However, plans go awry as the five would be impresarios race to keep the show on the road.

Earlier this year, the Everton Players dazzled theatre-goers with their performance of four one act plays from Alan Bennett’s well-loved Talking Heads series - with each telling different stories from the lives of four characters where Bennett excels in these sensitively drawn works - each painting a picture where the audience can see significance in the words of the story tellers they themselves are not always aware of. Curtain Up promises to be bigger and better.

Curtain Up! will be staged in Everton Village Hall between Wednesday 24th and Saturday 27th October. Tickets are £5 and are available by calling 01777 817275 or visiting www.evplayers.org.uk. Tickets for the play and a pre-theatre dinner at the Blacksmith’s Arms are also available, priced at £18.50.
