Flippin' good fun at residential home in Skegness

Residents at a care home in Skegness had some flippin' good fun on Shrove Tuesday.

The tradition of tossing pancakes is something the residents of Syne Hills Care home know well and they couldn't resist showing staff how it should be done.

"We pride ourselves in an active mind is a happy heart and we definitely hit the nail on the head with celebrating pancake day," said Cheryl Curtis of the home. "Both residents and carers have enjoyed trying to flip a pancake and it has made a lot of us laugh , especially because a lot of our pancakes started falling apart ."

The food of love that was on the menu when residents celebrated Valentine's Day.

As well as being treated to pampering sessions by Cheryl Curtis, the chef was kept busy preparing a food tasting for the afternoon. .

"We all got to try out some lovely new menu choices, including beef bolognese with pasta, coronation chicken, katsu curry, salmon and spinach crumble, ham leek and cheddar tart, pasta carbonara, yellow rice, vegetable rice, ice cream and chocolate éclairs and more," said Cheryl.

"We got a lot of very good feedback from both staff and residents and everyone said they enjoyed it.

"Thanks to our lovely manager, carers and Julie for pulling this amazing afternoon on."

The day was particularly special for one married couple at the home who got to celebrate together.

They all finished their day by playing, 'what's your best chat up line?' - including lots of funny ones.
