Leadenham House Christmas Market going ahead as teahouse stages come back for Small Business Saturday

Sisters and business partners Katie Mace and Kirsty Kershaw have been busy behind the scenes since temporarily closing Leadenham Teahouse in March under Covid restrictions.

Located within Leadenham Post Office, it was decided to leave the space clear for the community to safely use the post counter throughout lockdown, which became an increasingly important lifeline for locals.

The shop added more retail lines of local produce and gifts and Katie said it is important to them to support the small business network. Despite being closed the Teahouse won the Coffee Shop of the Year for Central England with the UK Prestige Awards and will be supporting Small Business Saturday.

They are teaming up again with William Reeve of Leadenham Estate for the second Leadenham House Christmas Market on Sunday, December 13. This event set in the grounds is ideal to pick up original gifts in a safely distanced outdoor environment, featuring local businesses, artisans and producers who are excited to “get back out there”.

William Reeve added: “We consider it our duty, having the facility, to do our bit to give local businesses and their customers a safe forum.”

Kirsty and Katie will be serving festive drinks and cakes and plan to reopen The Teahouse for take aways with their Christmas Pop Up Shop from December 1, which will sell handmade holly wreaths, bunches of locally grown mistletoe, plants and festive flower bouquets as well as winter homewares and gifts.

Katie said: “We are always looking at ways to diversify our small business, collaborations with local florists and working with Leadenham Estate putting on events has worked well. When Leadenham Teahouse reopens with a more take away offering, we may have to look into seizing new opportunities with delivery, and online orders.”
