Sleaford pub facing loss of licence vows to make big changes under new management
After police called for a review of the licence, North Kesteven District Council's licensing committee said in November they had "no confidence" the management of The Grapes in Southgate, Sleaford would operate within licensing rules after repeated reports of large groups of customers outside the pub and police being called to fights.
The pub was told it could continue to trade under the present management until December 7 unless an appeal was made.

It is now managed by Paul Dickinson, who is stated to have no previous association with The Grapes or its past operations. The pub has undergone significant changes to address community concerns and rebuild its reputation, according to the new management.
“We recognise the issues raised under the previous management, and I want to assure everyone that this is a completely fresh start,” said Paul Dickinson. “The Grapes is now focused on safety, transparency, and creating a fantastic space for the people of Sleaford to enjoy.”
A lifelong resident of Sleaford, Paul says he understands the importance of The Grapes as a cornerstone of the local community. Throughout the transition, he has worked closely with North Kesteven District Council’s Licensing team to ensure the pub operates to the highest standards, prioritising safety, inclusivity, and compliance.

The Grapes now says it is also committed to working closely with North Kesteven District Council Licensing and Lincolnshire Police to ensure full compliance with licensing regulations and to maintain a safe environment for patrons. Regular communication with these authorities will help reinforce the pub’s dedication to safety, transparency, and upholding the highest standards of operation.
Changes include the removal of the wall separating the main bar from the back room, creating an open-plan layout that ensures full visibility throughout the venue. Professional security personnel will be present during peak times to maintain order and ensure guest safety.
Under Paul’s leadership, a completely new team has been brought on board, dedicated to upholding high standards of service and hospitality.

To celebrate the reopening, The Grapes is hosting a series of events, including live music nights featuring local talent, to reintroduce the pub to the community.
