Norman Hatcliff, chairman of Heydour Parish Village Hall and local churchwarden of St Michael’s Church has arranged for older people in self-isolation in the villages of Heydour, Aisby, Welby and Oasby to be able to order bread to be delivered by Bloomsbury Bakery of Grantham.

He said the initiative started in Welby and he has organised and co-ordinated fresh bread deliveries once or twice a week to the Village Hall.

This is on a pre-ordered basis against a price list.

He said: “These are going well - 17 so far. The Order Book for Friday’s delivery closes this evening (Wednesday).”

The bakery commented on its Facebook site: “Our delivery service has been very popular over the last week and we are pleased to hear we have helped many people out in such a terrible time.”

There had been efforts to make meal deliveries from the village hall kitchens but since the Prime Minister’s announcement about restricted movement, this has had to be cancelled.
