There, the budding junior master chefs from Sleaford area secondary schools had to prepare a healthy and nutritious two course meal for two people at a cost not exceeding £10.

The standard, said the judges, was outstanding, with the winner being Molly Sheppard of Kesteven and Sleaford High School, whose menu was a herb crusted cod on a bed of potato and celeriac mash with baby vegetables, followed by brandy snap baskets with winter berry ice cream and thick cream.

John Elkington, President of the Rotary Club of Sleaford, presented Molly with her trophy. She will now go on to the Area Final in Huntingdon later this month.

Runner up was Kurtis Wright of St George’s Academy.
