Gainsboro’ Choral Society returns

one of Gainsborough’s most renowned and long-running institutions is set to return this month - and you can sign up and join.

Last year Gainsborough Choral Society, a choir of ninety-plus members, completed a very successful 150th season.

However, they are now very short of tenor and bass singers.

“We are a friendly society, producing quality programmes in our three concerts each season,” said society secretary Deirdre Speed.

“There are no voice trials, sight-reading is not essential and all we ask is a high level of commitment to rehearsals and performances.”

She continued: “Our rehearsals are educational and fun and singing has been shown to have a very positive effect on wellbeing and is a very social activity.”

Rehearsals are held weekly on Thursdays from 7.30pm – 9.15pm during term-time from September to March at Queen Elizabeth’s High School on Morton Terrace in Gainsborough.

Concerts are staged throughout the year at All Saints’ Church, Gainsborough.

The first performance of the year will be A Concert For Remembrance on Saturday 12th November.
