GAOS spread festive cheer with carol show

CHRISTMAS spirit was well and truly in the air as Gainsborough Amateur Operatic Society brought a strong dose of festive cheer to the town with a top carol concert.

Carols For All saw GAOS members entertain parishioners and music lovers at the St Thomas Of Canterbury Catholic Church on Cross Street in Gainsborough.

As well as all of the favourite Christmas numbers, there were also readings, solos and a service.

“It was quite a spiritual day,” said Vicky Toward from GAOS.

“It was also so lovely to see everyone getting into the festive spirit.”

She continued: “The church was nearly full, and it was so nice to see so many people from church come along as well as friends and family - we did our best to make sure that the audience joined in!”

The concert-come-service was free, but a collection was held which raised over £150 for the George Henderson Lodge.

Vicky went on: “The members of GAOS performed really well and we all enjoyed ourselves so much.”

“Everyone involved and attending had such a great time and we received such glowing feedback from the audience afterwards.”

“The church put on tea, coffee and mice pies following the show and it was brilliant to see everybody coming together at Christmas time.”

Vicky added: “I’d like to thank Father Gabriel and everyone at the church for having us perform there, and to our wonderful audience - without them we’d have no one to perform to.”

“Also - a massive thank you and well done to everyone at GAOS and who took part for making it such a special day.”

The next GAOS production will be Me And My Girl - being performed at Trinity Arts Centre in April.

The show is fully cast, but GAOS are always on the lookout for chorus members to sing and dance and for anyone who can help out backstage.

All are welcome.
