Open event looking for garden hosts

The weather may be getting colder, but Market Rasen Rotary Club is looking ahead to summer, and particularly Saturday, August 6, when the popular annual open gardens event returns.

Plans are under way for the gardeners’ themed market in the town’s Market Place and, all being well, an arts and craft activity in the festival hall.

Life-saving blood pressure testing will also be on offer, as always, and Rotarians will no doubt be tempting everyone with cakes, tea and coffee.

Now more volunteers are needed to open their gardens and give visitors a varied experience.

Each open garden host can be involved as much or as little as they want.

The minimum is to inspect tickets of visitors and let them wander around, but many hosts are available to answer questions, while some go further still and hold their own fundraising event for whatever cause they choose.

Any profits from the event as a whole are used to fund local community projects and to support local people in their ambitions.
