Work began on Monday by Lindum Construction on land off Kyme Road on behalf of North Kesteven District Council.

Once complete, the development will consist of eight one-bedroomed flats, 16 three-bed houses and nine two-bed houses. Each home will have its own garden space and private parking provision, says the company.

The scheme follows construction of 22 homes on Welchman Way, which were completed by Lindum in 2016. The new homes will be accessed via the same road as the previous development.

NKDC Leader Coun Richard Wright said: “It’s encouraging to see Lindum Group begin construction on these properties as part of our ongoing work to meet the needs of residents in accessing high-quality, affordable housing options across

the district.

“This follows on from the success of the existing development of 22 homes at Welchman Way where a strong and supportive community has developed in the past four years.

“With a total of almost £4.7 million invested by our council, these 33 new homes show our continued commitment to our communities and developing our district’s future as a whole, now and far beyond the coronavirus pandemic.”

The project is the result of a partnership between NKDC and Lindum Group’s joint ventures land-finding team.

Lindum development manager Mitul Shah said the site is currently an underused parcel of agricultural land which previously formed part of a larger field.

“The development will make a noteworthy contribution to affordable housing provision in Heckington and the wider North Kesteven district,” he said.

“The 33 new units will look just like the existing houses, the result being one complete residential site with the same character and design.”

Lindum contracts manager Mark Carter added: “We envisage the works to be complete by spring 2022.

“We will monitor noise, dust and traffic movement during the construction phase and will mitigate impact on the community wherever possible.”
