Illustrated lecture on Zeppelin raids

The story of the Zeppelin raids over Lincolnshire during the First World War will form the subject of a lecture this weekend.

Flames in the Night will be heard at the Thorpe Camp Visitor Centre, in Coningsby Road, Tattershall Thorpe, on Saturday at 7pm.

The illustrated talk is being held as part of Museums at Night, an annual after-hours festival of arts, culture and heritage.

It sees museums and heritage sites across the country open their doors for special evening events.

The first speaker on Saturday’s talk is Cliff Clover, who will describe the development of the Zeppelin airships.

He will be followed by Mike Hodgson, who will tell the tale of the Zeppelin bombing raids over Lincolnshire.

Following the lecture the visitor centre will open for a special night-time viewing.

Light refreshments will also be available for visitors.

Tickets for the event are priced at £5 and, along with further details, can be obtained by calling 01526 342249 or via the centre’s website at www.thorpecamp.org
