Legends The Specials returning to Sheffield

ICONIC rock legends The Specials are back and heading to our region to play Sheffield in 2013.

After reforming in 2009 to mark their 30th anniversary, rock heroes and godfather of ska The Specials have been wowing fans around the world with their catalogue of classics and unforgettable style.

Stars of the 2 Tone movement and representing the stylish side of punk and new wave, The Specials have proven to be one of the most influential British bands of all time with their combination of working class pride, raw attitude and sheer danceability.

The Coventry band celebrated their appearance at the Hyde Park Olympic Games Concert last summer alongside Blur and New Order, with ‘More…Or Less. The Specials Live’ - a ‘best of the best’ tracks taken from the band’s 2011 European tour dates.

A band spokesman said: “As one of the UK’s most important bands of all-time, The Specials recent reformation and subsequent live shows were a culturally defining event as the multi-racial band who brought the world the revolutionary 2-Tone movement, fusing punk and ska and much more besides, toured the UK and Europe playing to tens of thousands of people, many of whom never got to see the remarkable band in their heyday.”

“And the songs about race, unemployment, or the importance of have a great time, still sound as rousing, thoughtful and relevant as ever.”

With hits including Too Much Too Young, Ghost Town, Do Nothing, Stereotype, Rat Race, Free Nelson Mandela, Monkey Man, A Message To You Rudy and many, many more, this is set to be a greatest hits show like no other.

The Specials will play the O2 Academy in Sheffield on 16th May.
