And he will be stopping off at the Engine Shed in Lincoln next week.

Jamie Lawson has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the last 18 months, thanks largely to his huge international hit Wasn’t Expecting That and his self-titled debut album hitting the top of the UK album charts.

Last year, Jamie was unveiled as the first ever signing to multi-award-winning Ed Sheeran’s own label Gingerbread Man Records.

Enigmatic and soulful, Jamie first drew Ed’s attention with an early version of Wasn’t Expecting That, which reduced Sheeran to tears.

Ed said: “I first became aware of Jamie Lawson a few years ago, after hearing him perform his track Wasn’t Expecting That.

“I very rarely get emotional over a track, but that song stopped me dead.

“He manages to put across such raw emotion within his work, and I knew immediately that I wanted to work with this guy in some way.

“Having decided to start my own label Gingerbread Man Records with my label Atlantic Records, the first artist I had to sign was Jamie.

“Starting Gingerbread Man Records means I can put music I love out there on a huge platform.

“And Jamie seemed like the perfect choice for my first release.”

It’s taken Jamie Lawson a long time to find his voice and hone his songs.

But it has been worth the wait and the core, loyal following who have supported him throughout is now becoming something much bigger.

Last year, as well as playing his own headline UK dates, he also supported One Direction.

More UK dates followed at the start of this year.

These were followed by a world tour which has seen him playing dates in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France and Denmark and Spain.

He has also had a number of UK festival dates this summer, including Splendour in Nottingham last month as well as Common People in Oxford and Camp Bestival at Wareham.

And he has only a brief time to pause for breath before he gets going on his new UK and Ireland dates this autumn.

Earlier this year, Jamie released fans’s favourite Cold In Ohio as a single.
