National award for county council adoption team

The service was rewarded for its dedication and consistently high standards, together with an innovative approach to meeting the needs of children who are waiting to be adopted.

The last two Ofsted inspections for the service have also been graded as ‘outstanding’.

The National Adoption Week Awards celebrate good practice and exceptional achievement among those working or involved in adoption in the UK.

Coun Patricia Bradwell, executive councillor for children’s services, said: “This is a well-deserved award for the excellent work of our adoption team, supporting children and young people to find loving homes and giving adopters the advice and encouragement they need.

“The award should help to raise our profile still further and hopefully encourage adopters to come forward for the children we have waiting to be adopted.”

Anne Johnson, team manager for the adoption team, added: “We work hard to maintain high standards for the service so it was great to get recognition for our work in finding families for children and supporting them and their adoptive families on their adoption journey.

“We still need more adopters to come forward – if you have thought about adopting then please get in touch with the adoption team.’’

Lincolnshire Adoption Service is currently recruiting adopters for:

· Children aged three years-old and above

· Brothers and sisters who need to be kept together

· Children with disabilities and additional needs

· Children who are placed under the Foster to Adopt scheme
