NCCD launches '¨new showcase

Sleaford's National Centre for Craft and Design (NCCD) has organised a fun-packed weekend to mark the opening of its summer exhibition this week.

The showcase, Cause & Effect, opens with a private view this Friday, between 6-8pm.

To mark the launch, there will be a range of special events across this weekend, including: new shop showcases, hands-on craft activities, and a new Sunday Sketch session, where visitors will be able to take inspiration from exhibits at the centre and create a masterpiece.

In addition, ‘Tent Art’ will open in the centre’s Activity Zone, coinciding with Children’s Art Week and Refugee Week, giving children and their families, as well as other visitors, the chance to create a home that could shelter or welcome a family.

Two workshops for pre-booking will also be running on the Saturday – one offering the chance to design ceramic crockery (11am-3pm, all ages, £12pp, cups and plates charged as extra), and the other, feltmaking (11am-3pm, 12-plus, £30pp).

The exhibition itself will explore artists’ response to adversity, be it personal tragedies, international disasters and unfortunate events.
