Organ society annual meet

THE PRESTIGIOUS Gainsborough Organ Society are set to hold their annual general meeting.

Not only that, but a demonstration of the latest organs on the market will follow the AGM.

Society secretary Peter Naulls said: “We have really come up trumps this time.”

“We try to promote up and coming organists at the mini concert which always follows the AGM, and have done so for many years in order for them to gain experience by playing in public and having their names included on our diary cards with all the top professional stars.”

He continued: “However, they are becoming less and available so we had to come up with something different.”

Yamaha UK and the MusicRoom shop in Lincoln have agreed to put on a demonstration of their latest instruments, and 21-year-old professional organist Ian House from Eastbourne will be conducting it.

“Ian played in concert for us in April this year and everyone went mad for him,” said Peter.

“He really took the place by storm and members have already been asking when he is coming back. Well, the answer is now!”

Peter added: “We pride ourselves on keep the official business and the meeting as short as possible with the record time being just 38 minutes. This gives us more time to enjoy ourselves.”

The annual general meeting of the Gainsborough Organ Society takes place at the West Rooms on Hickman Street, Gainsborough, on Thursday 15th September at 7.30pm.

The Yamaha organ demonstration will follow at 8.30pm.
