The Pylons are joining NCS to inspire young people

The five-piece indie pop band will be performing for a select few lucky groups of Lincolnshire teens during NCS this summer.

Joe Davies, keyboard and trumpet player in the band, said: “We’re looking forward to being involved with NCS.

“As a band and individuals we’ve been very lucky to have been provided with different opportunities by various organisations so we’re keen to be working with a programme that provides similar opportunities for young people.

“It’s exciting to be able to share our music with a new audience and inspire more people to pursue their own individual talents and abilities.”

This visit marks The Pylons’ first appearance as an ambassador for NCS, a two to four-week youth empowerment programme taking place across Lincolnshire this summer.

On the part-residential programme, 15-17 year olds meet other young people from different backgrounds, challenge themselves with a range of outward bound activities and take part in skills-based training and workshops.

In the final week, teams create a social action project supporting a local cause, which they deliver over 30 hours of their time.

The Pylons will be visiting some of the groups taking part in NCS this summer to perform an exclusive set on July 28 and it’s not too late to get involved if you want to be there too.

Phil Everett, from EM1 the regional provider for NCS, said: “We’re thrilled The Pylons have decided to become ambassadors for NCS and to perform for some of our groups this summer.

“Their enthusiasm for the programme is just what we need to remind parents and teens of the fantastic opportunities out there and the difference a few weeks away can have on a young person’s development.

“There are still places left for the summer programme and it’s just £50 or less to take part.

“Our graduates will tell you that there’s no better way to spend the summer.”

NCS takes place across England and Northern Ireland this summer and is open to all 15-17 year olds.

In Lincolnshire, there are still spaces available on July 25 and August 1.
