There’s an excellent choice of hotels in the heart of the city and beyond to suit all tastes and budgets.

We went to see homegrown talent Richard Hawley for his hotly-anticipated Standing at the Sky’s Edge tour at Sheffield City Hall and chose nearby Jurys Inn as our resting place for the night.

Boasting 259 spacious rooms, the modern hotel is situated just a few minutes’ walk from Sheffield Lyceum and Crucible Theatres.

And a further stroll up town will take you to the popular Devonshire Quarter where you will be spoilt for choice with its many restaurants, cafes and bars.

From the warm welcome from hotel staff to the little touches in our room such as fresh fruit and luxurious toiletries - we were instantly made to feel at home.

I was imagining a city-centre hotel to have small rooms and so was pleasantly surprised to find our room really spacious and airy with every attention paid to detail.

From the widescreen TV and massive bed to drinks facilities and ironing board - this was definitely was a home from home.

And it was the perfect place to rest our heads after Hawley’s stunning concert, with no stress of driving back home late at night.

The hotel also boasts a stylish restaurant and bar as well as an all-day Costa Coffee - perfect if you fancy a snack or something more substantial.

We woke refreshed ready for the day ahead to enjoy a delicious breakfast and were greeted with a lovely welcome from the staff.

There was plenty of choice on offer - from traditional to Continental, with an enticing array of cereals, fresh fruit, cereals and pastries - and it certainly set us up for the day ahead.

Jurys Inn offers all the luxury and choice of a modern city-centre hotel but with rooms starting from just £58 per night, it’s a small price to pay to fully relax and soak up Sheffield’s rich cultural experience.
