Roll up for the '˜earie' Circus of Horrors at the Baths Hall

When Hannibal Hellmuerto the sword swallower from the infamous Circus of Horrors had a Vincent Van Gogh moment and�cut off his earlobe, he didn't envisage selling it at auction.'¨But that's exactly what the performer, who is coming to The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe with the Circus of Horrors next week, ended up doing.

Mr Hellmuerto had stretched his earlobes to an astonishing 62 millimetres as part of his body modification programme (he also has a body covered in tattoos, as well as forked tongue, floating ribs and mammoth ivory teeth).

However as the skin got thinner around the earlobe he was worried that it would break.

He tried superglue but that wore off after a while so his only course of action was to have them cut off and stitched back together.

He then decided to pickle the earlobes that had�been cut off and sell them at an auction of horrors.

It is believed that this is the first time ever that a piece of a living person’s body has been sold in an auction

Hannibal commented: “After I had the operation to remove my earlobes I always kept my ear to the ground in case an opportunity like this came up.”

It is not the first time Hannibal has been in the news since the former tax inspector left Germany to run away and join the Circus of Horrors as a sword swallower.

Twice he has split his Esophagus and ended up in intensive care, the last time after attempting to swallow a lit neon tube.

He then turned his hand to hypnotism but accidentally Hypnotised himself while practising in a mirror.

Hannibal continued: “After the hypnotist incident I decided to go back to sword swallowing, it seemed much safer.”

Hannibal is just one of the bizarre who will be performing in the Circus of Horrors’ brand new show The Neverending Nightmare.

The spectacular features an amazing amalgamation of bizarre, brave and beautiful acts, all woven into a Alice in Horrorland-type story, driven by a mainly original soundscape and performed with a forked tongue firmly in each cheek.�
The Circus of Horrors started it�s gruesome beginnings at the 1995 Glastonbury Festival and became an instant hit, touring all over the world from Chile to Chatham, Argentina to Aberdeen, Japan to Jersey including festival appearances with Alice Cooper, Eminem, Motley Crue, Oasis, Iron Maiden, The Manic St Preachers, Foo Fighters and many more.

They have also appeared on several TV shows, including The X Factor, The One Show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, This Morning, Ant & Dec, Fairground Attractions, Daybreak, Body Shockers and A Royal Command Performance
