Soul group's greatest hits plays at Embassy Theatre

One of the most successful soul groups of all time come to Skegness this weekend, promising '˜A Night To Remember'.

Shalamar play the Embassy Theatre on Saturday at 7.30pm.

The band formed in the 70s and would go on to sell more than 25 million records until splitting in the mid-80s. Hits on the way included A Night To Remember and I Can Make You Feel Good.

They now comprise Howard Hewett and Jeffrey Daniel, who date from the Shalamar of the 70s and 80s, and Carolyn Griffey. Daniel is credited with teaching Michael Jackson the Moonwalk, himself performing it on Top of the Pops to A Night To Remember in 1982 – 12 months before Michael Jackson first did the move publicly.

A spokesman for the show said: “As Shalamar, Howard Hewett and Jeffrey Daniel collected more than 100 gold, silver and platinum awards, together with Carolyn Griffey - the daughter of Solar Records founder Dick Griffey, they bring an exciting blend of funk, disco, and soul to every live show.”
