Top organist at Crossing

Previously Assistant Music Director at Peterborough Cathedral, Francesca, 29, became sub-organist at Durham Cathedral in 2011.

When appointed, she said: “It’s a great honour, it’s a spectacular building and many hundreds of years of musical tradition are in this cathedral so it’s wonderful to be part of that.”

“It’s a fantastic Father Henry Willis organ, one of the best in the country and it’s just such a delight to have the opportunity to play it every day.”

Speaking of Francesca’s appointment, the Dean of Durham Cathedral said she has proved to be a truly ‘wonderful’ musician, offering everything they were looking for..

Crossing concert programmer David Jordan said it was an honour to host Francesca in Worksop.

“We have had a lot of professional concert organists here since 2006 and aside from her brilliance which is really expected of all our invited organists, Francesca really engaged with her audience, getting the balance of talking to playing just right”.

Tickets for the 7.30pm concert at The Crossing, Newcastle Avenue, on Saturday 21st April are priced £8, £7 concessions, £4 for children and students. Doors open at 6.45pm.
