The first ever woman to be awarded an organ scholarship to Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, and now the first female organist at Durham Cathedral, Francesca Massey is to give an organ concert at The Crossing in Worksop town centre on Saturday 21st April.

Previously Assistant Music Director at Peterborough Cathedral, Francesca, 29, became sub-organist at Durham Cathedral in 2011.

“It’s a fantastic Father Henry Willis organ, one of the best in the country and it’s just such a delight to have the opportunity to play it every day.”

Speaking of Francesca’s appointment, the Dean of Durham Cathedral said she has proved to be a truly ‘wonderful’ musician, offering everything they were looking for..

Crossing concert programmer David Jordan said it was an honour to host Francesca in Worksop.

“We have had a lot of professional concert organists here since 2006 and aside from her brilliance which is really expected of all our invited organists, Francesca really engaged with her audience, getting the balance of talking to playing just right”.
