Nottingham to Skegness Community Rail Partnership shortlisted for two awards

The photograph was taken at the Vintage Festival in Skegness last September and shows a young girl and an elderly gentleman drawing together at Skegness Railway Station.

In a second project that has been shortlisted for the Community Art Schemes, students from South Nottinghamshire Academy's fine art department and residents at Manor Care Home in Radcliffe on Trent to produce inter-generational artwork. The project has been shortlisted in the renewable and smaller projects category.

For the project, students paid a number of visits to the care home to meet with the residents and listen to their stories. They also did art workshops together and designed the final artworks which are now on display at Radcliffe station.

Three of its stations – Bottesford, Radcliffe and Heckington – were also placed in the Silver band of 'Its Your Station' with the winner announced on the night.

The award ceremony will take place virtually on 9 December 2020.

It has been a challenging time for community rail with all of our events this year being cancelled due to Covid-19 but it is wonderful to have something positive to look forward to later in the year.
