West End star Elaine Paige is coming to the Baths Hall

West End and Broadway star Elaine Paige is to perform her new show Stripped Back at the Baths Hall, Scunthorpe later this year.

Stripped Back will see her perform her favourite tracks from an array of contemporary songwriters, with a small group of musicians.

This follows Elaine’s last solo tour in 2014 which was a sellout celebratory concert encompassing her incredible 50-year career and saw her say farewell to a full touring schedule.

The show will celebrate the contemporary songwriters she loves, such as Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Jim Webb, Burt Bacharach, Leonard Cohen, Sting, Elton John, Lennon & McCartney and many more.

One of Britain’s best entertainers, Elaine has performed live in concert all over the world and as a recording artist has worked with legendary producers such as Tony Visconti, Dennis Lambert, Peter Matz, and Phil Ramone amongst others .

She has released 22 solo albums, four of which have been certified as multi-platinum and nine more as gold.

She has been featured on seven major stage musical show cast recordings and has had major worldwide hits with songs such as Memory from Cats and I Know Him So Well from Chess.

As a musical theatre performer Elaine has made a major contribution to the modern musical.

After early roles that includes Sandy in Grease, Elaine was cast as Eva Peron in the first production of Evita in 1978, which brought her to the attention of the broader public.

For this role, she won the Laurence Olivier Award for Performance of the Year in a musical.

She went on to originate the role of Grizabella in Cats and then played Florence in the original stage production of Chess, followed by a starring role in Anything Goes, which she also co-produced.

She made her Broadway debut in Sunset Boulevard in 1996, playing the lead role of Norma Desmond, having also played the role in London, to critical acclaim.

Other major roles on the West End stage include Edith Piaf in Piaf, Anna in the King And I , and Mrs Lovett in Sweeney Todd.

As well as winning the Best Actress honour for her role in Evita, she has been nominated for four other Olivier Awards and also won many other awards and accolades for her work.

She has starred in more smash-hit West End and Broadway musicals than anyone else of her generation and been called the First Lady of British musical theatre.

She also continues to present the hugely successful weekly BBC Radio 2 show Elaine Paige on Sunday.

The show is devoted to musical theatre and film music, and continues to delight audiences of more than 2.5 million listeners each week with its mix of music, news and interviews.

She is at the Baths Hall on October 22.
