WIN! A spa day for two at Thoresby Hall

YOUR Guardian has teamed up with Thoresby Hall’s luxurious World Spa to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a spa day for two, worth £160!

Guardian news editor Debbie Sansom went along to try out the facilities and see what the spa had to offer...

As we pulled up outside Thoresby Hotel I couldn’t help but be impressed by the spa’s beautiful countryside surroundings.

The grand Grade 1 listed property is set in the countryside just a few miles from Worksop, near to Budby.

It’s hard to believe such luxury is hidden just outside of Worksop.

Wending our way deeper into the hotel, with the help of a few pointers from friendly staff, we soon found the spa which is hidden in the depths of the building.

Floor to ceiling glass windows ensure that the spa is light and airy and with help from the staff, extremely welcoming.

After my husband and I changed into our swimwear and white towel robes and slippers we delved deeper into the spa to explore all the hidden saunas and steam rooms. A spa tour helped us navigate our way round and we had the benefits of each different type of treatment explained to us. I had worried about whether we would be entertained enough to spend a whole day in the spa, but the variety of treatments on offer were seemingly endless, from the Scandinavian Sanarium to the Turkish Hamman steam room there was even an Ice Cave, hydrotherapy pool and foot spas.

As well as a swimming pool and gym for anyone feeling more energetic.

We also treated ourselves to the added extra of a Rhassoul treatment. This ancient Egyptian ritual is for two people and lasts for 45 minutes.

First we were showed to our own private sauna and presented with three different types of clay mud for your face, arms and back.

After thirty minutes warm showers switch on washing away the last of the mud.

The clay is designed to detoxify and left my skin feeling soft for days afterwards. This is the perfect treat for couples or for a girls day out.

During our day I also enjoyed a Rehydrating Facial, which lasted for an hour and was so relaxing that I am quite sure I fell to sleep during it. Afterwards the experts offer advice for the products that suit your skin and any changes you should make to your skin care routine.

As well as access to the spa for the day our lucky winners will be treated to a two course lunch at the hotel’s Italian restaurant Fenocchi’s.
