WIN! Tickets to The Stranglers

PUNK legends The Stranglers are back and still going strong - and we have two pairs of tickets to giveaway to lucky readers.

The rock giants, whose hits include No More Heroes, Peaches and Golden Brown, are heading to Sheffield this month - and you could be there.

It has often been said that the Stranglers are probably the most enduring band of the UK punk new wave era, while at the same time being the least celebrated.

Now, It’s 2012 and the Stranglers return with their eagerly awaited new studio album Giants. Some 35 years on from the release of their debut album, Giants is the Stranglers’ 17th album and, just as the latter day successes of the group’s last two records, this more recent return to the studio has once again produced another collection of sterling Stranglers tracks.

Quirky and diverse, the music presented on Giants avoids the formulaic and the stale and for the first time since 1980, there is an instrumental and the group, better known for their waltzes, also reveal their take on another dance form, the tango.

As always strong melodies and unusual time signatures are high on the agenda, all underpinned by those trademark Stranglers bass lines and keyboard runs.

It’s a few years since the last album release but the Stranglers have been keeping extremely busy on the live circuit, with constant global touring commitments and high demand from the major festivals.

The Stranglers may have been going for over 34 years but fans can certainly look forward to plenty more exciting years in black.

Giants is out now.

The Stranglers will be playing the O2 Academy in Sheffield on Friday 23rd March.
