Not only will all the favourites by Roy Orbison rock the house, but this sensational show will also feature hits by The Shadows, Jerry Lee Lewis plus special guest Peter Jackson as Johnny Cash.
This is the second time that Barry Steele has headed to the Majestic from his Birmingham home, having first visited The Theatre in 2009.
As well as good music, Barry Steele presents his all live spectacular multi-media tribute to The Big O.
Using both Original and film footage from the era, Barry Steele and his band will bring the life and character of Roy Orbison back to the centre stage, where it truly belongs, as he puts the rock back into The Big O, with his trademark dark rimmed glasses, soaring vocals and Orbison style.
This promises to be a spectacular fusion of good old rock n’ roll” and contemporary musical genius all on one stage.
Barry Steele was born in the West Midlands and joined the RAF in the 70s, serving in Belgium, Germany, and Holland, as well as across the UK.
It was whilst he was based at RAF Waddington that he met his wife Lynne, and it was in Lincoln that Lynne became aware that Barry had a fantastic voice, but it also became apparent that Barry was to shy to sing in public.
Barry took the first steps on the road to becoming a professional singer, when Lynne and their daughter Leonie entered him in a singing competition.
It was during that competition that a fellow competitor told him he sounded like Roy Orbison singing Robbie Williams.
So with the help of his wife, family, many friends and colleagues, a tribute to The Dark Star was born.
Barry quickly became totally enveloped in the music and the sheer magic that was Roy Orbison, his aim was simple his vision was clear; to deliver Roy Orbison songs to Roy Orbison fans and in same manner as they were originally performed.
The tribute to Roy Orbison and Friends will be at Retford’s Majestic Theatre on Friday 22nd June.
